“Sun — Life or Warning?”

🌞 “Sun — Life or Warning?” According to numerology, 2026 is associated with the Sun. I used this as my starting point, but took the concept beyond numerology. One side of the Sun represents life, energy and hope — Surya Namaskar, offering water to the Sun, solar energy and photosynthesis. But this picture has another side too. Pollution, rising temperatures, melting glaciers, floods and droughts remind us of the environmental challenges we are facing. The current El Niño conditions and the recent glacier-related flooding in the Nepal–Tibet region further inspired the environmental side of my artwork. The Ganpati idol itself was made at home using Shadu clay, and the entire decoration was created by hand using cardboard, paper, colours and other eco-friendly materials. For me, this was more than a festive decoration. It was an opportunity to practice what I teach — to use art as a form of inquiry, reflection and communication. Art can make us look. Art can make us question. And art can inspire us to act. 🌱
