OUR STORY SSBGM – A Legacy of Faith, Culture & Community Every great journey begins with a small dream, a strong belief and the determination to make a difference. The journey of Shri Sarvajanik Bal Ganeshotsav Mandal (SSBGM), Nagpur began in 1989, from a small shop, with a simple yet powerful vision — to bring people together through the devotion of Lord Ganesha and create a platform that would become a part of the community's cultural identity. What started in a small space gradually grew into a respected and beloved Ganeshotsav tradition. Today, SSBGM's beloved Ganesh idol is proudly known as “Vidarbha Cha Raja” – The King of Vidarbha, earning a special place in the hearts of devotees across Nagpur and Vidarbha. THE VISIONARY BEHIND THE JOURNEY SHRI BABANRAO T. DESHMUKH MAIN FOUNDER & VISIONARY At the heart of the SSBGM story stands Shri Babanrao T. Deshmukh, the Main Founder and visionary behind the establishment of the Mandal. The idea and desire to establish a Ganesh Mandal at Bhende Layout, Datta Nagar, Nagpur was his vision. In 1989, this vision took its first step from a small shop. With limited resources but unlimited determination, Shri Babanrao T. Deshmukh laid the foundation of what would eventually become a cherished Ganeshotsav tradition. His vision was never limited to worship alone. He believed that Ganeshotsav could become a powerful platform for unity, culture, values, community participation and social responsibility. FROM A SMALL SHOP TO “VIDARBHA CHA RAJA” The journey of SSBGM is a remarkable example of how a small beginning can grow into a legacy. From a small shop in 1989, the celebration gradually evolved with the support of devotees, families, children, youth, volunteers and well-wishers.
