Ganesh Chaturthi in Sangli is a beautiful experience filled with devotion, culture and community spirit. The city comes alive with beautifully decorated Ganpati mandaps, traditional music, dhol-tasha and enthusiastic devotees. Sangli has a particularly strong Ganeshotsav tradition, with thousands of public Ganesh mandals participating across the district. One of the highlights of my experience was visiting the historic Shri Ganpati Panchayatan Sansthan, Shri Ganapati Mandir, Sangli. The temple has a special place in Sangli’s Ganesh tradition, and the atmosphere during the festival is truly spiritual. The 150-year-old tradition of the ‘Chor Ganpati’ is another unique feature of Sangli’s celebrations. The streets were full of festive energy, with families dressed traditionally, children enjoying the decorations and devotees chanting “Ganpati Bappa Morya!” The combination of traditional celebrations, cultural programmes and community participation made the festival memorable. What I enjoyed most was the sense of togetherness. People from different backgrounds came together to celebrate Bappa with faith and enthusiasm. I also appreciated the increasing focus on traditional musical instruments and environmentally conscious celebrations. Overall, my Ganesh Chaturthi experience in Sangli was a wonderful blend of devotion, tradition, culture and community spirit. It was an experience I will always remember with happiness and gratitude. 🙏 गणपती बाप्पा मोरया!
